Breaking: Nigeria’s ambassador to South Africa, Ibeto, dumps APC for PDP

Nigeria’s serving ambassador to South Africa, Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto, has reportedly announced his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under which he secured the appointment from President Muhammadu Buhari.

  Ibeto was a former deputy governor of Niger State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

   As deputy governor for eight years, Ibeto worked with Muazu Babangida Aliyu.

Breaking: Court stops swearing-in of new Imo deputy governor

High Court in Owerri, the Imo State capital, has on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, stopped the swearing-in of Mr Calistus Ekenze as the new Deputy Governor of the state.
The court ruling came just as Ekenze, who is from Ubomiri in Mbaitolu Local Government Area, was about to be sworn in.
The Attorney-General of the state, Miletus Nlemadim, informed those gathered at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco Chambers of the Government House in Owerri, the state capital, for the ceremony about the ruling which halted the process.

Breaking: Imo Assembly impeaches deputy governor

The Imo State House of Assembly has impeached the Deputy Governor, Mr Eze Madumere.

He was impeached on Monday by 19 out of the 27 member-assembly.

The Speaker of the House, Acho Ihim, said the impeachment followed the outcome of a report of a 7-man panel which was constituted by the Chief Judge of the state to investigate allegations of gross misconduct and abandonment of office by the Deputy Governor.

Failure of APC federal govt caused defections, says Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has declared that the recent gale of defections that hit the All Progressives Congress (APC ) was caused by the failure of the Federal Government to meet the expectation of Nigerians.

  He alleged that the APC Federal Government runs on vindictiveness, intimidation and illegality, whilst denying Nigerians the dividends of democracy.

  The governor spoke after projects’ inspection on Saturday in Port Harcourt.

  Wike also predicted that more high profile  defections were in the offing across the  country.

Why Imo ex-governor, Ohakim, dumped PDP for APGA

Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

  Ohakim announced his defection on Friday while addressing a crowd of APGA supporters at the Kanu Nwankwo sports complex in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

 The former governor stated that he defected to APGA to contest for the governorship seat in the state in the 2019 general elections.

  He said that his wealth of experience as a former governor of the state was the tonic needed now to revive the ailing state. 

APC Bayelsa dismisses Tiwei Orunimighe’s defection claim

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Bayelsa State chapter, has dismissed a claim by one Mr. Tiwei Orunimighe that he is an APC member defecting with some others to another political party.

   APC made the statement on Sunday by its State Publicity Secretary, Doifie Buokoribo, titled, “Disclaimer: Tiwei Orunimighe Is Not Our Member.”

 The statement said Orunimighe had the right to join any party of his choice, but to try to use APC as leverage in negotiations with his new party was irresponsible.

PDP to Oshiomhole: Stop acting like an attack dog

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Adams Oshiomhole, to stop behaving like an attack dog.

  PDP noted that Oshiomhole,  since assuming office as chairman of the factional APC, had abandoned the path of wisdom expected of him and has become noisy, loquacious, rapacious and completely immodest in all his actions and utterances.

Senator Melaye shared his experience via Twitter on Friday, about 24 hours after he was reportedly abducted by gunmen in Gwagwalada, a suburb of Abuja.

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce (Bayelsa East) broke the news of Senator Melaye’s abduction on Twitter on Thursday morning.

Senator Murray-Bruce said he got the information from Melaye’s brother who said the lawmaker was kidnapped after the gunmen attacked them on their way to Kogi State.

Breaking: Gunmen kill newly elected APC LG chairman in Imo

Gunmen suspected to be hired assassins have killed an All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Chairman, Mr Sunny Ejiagwu.
The victim, who was murdered on Friday morning, was until his death the APC chairman of Ideato North LGA of the state.
He was among the party’s Local Government Chairmen elected in the just concluded congress held early this week in the state.
According to sources, Ejiagwu was killed along the Orlu-Akokwa Road, on his way home shortly after attending a meeting at the APC Secretariat in Owerri, the state capital.
