The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare PDP winner in Osun State's Saturday general election to avert national crisis.

  Secondus said that the PDP would not accept anything less than its deserved victory because the party won the election clearly and unambiguously.

Breaking: INEC declares Osun governorship election inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Osun State governorship election inconclusive.

The reason for the cancellation, according to the electoral body, is because the number of cancelled votes is higher than the margin between the two top candidates.

Peoples Democratic Party candidate Ademola Adeleke led the race with 254,698 votes, 353 votes more than his closest rival, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress.

The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where voting was cancelled.

The leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is safe and currently in London.

  The former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, disclosed this when he visited former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), in Minna, Niger State, to drum support for a second-tenure for President Muhammadu Buhari.

 Though, he did not give details, it was believed that Kalu was countering the impression that the IPOB leader was in the custody of Nigerian military.

WAEC confirms Adeleke sat for its examination in 1981

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun state governorship election, sat for its examination in 1981.

The council confirmed Adeleke’s participation in an affidavit deposed at an FCT high court in Bwari, Abuja, on Wednesday.

Rasheed Olabayo and Oluwaseun Idowu, PDP members in Osun, had filed a suit to challenge his candidacy on the grounds that the senator “did not possess his primary school leaving certificate”.

Buhari orders IGP not to invite Adeleke

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly stopped the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, from inviting Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the governorship election.

The election is slated for Saturday in Osun State.

The police had earlier invited Adeleke to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for the purpose of arraigning him on charges of examination malpractices, criminal conspiracy, personation, breach of duty, aiding and abetting, instituted against him.

How EFCC witch-hunts opposition politicians, by Wike

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of engaging in a witch-hunt against politicians in the opposition.

Wike made the accusation on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s breakfast show, Sunrise Daily.

“Has EFCC investigated those states that were APC, like my own state at that time that funded part of the 2015 general elections? Who is deceiving who?” he asked.

Court orders arrest of Senator Hope Uzodinma

A Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of  Senator Hope Uzodinma, accused of issuing N200 million dud cheque.‎

Uzodinma,  a serving senator representing Imo-West, Smiec Engineering and Chemical Construction Company, Niger Global Engineering and Technical Company, were charged with alleged issuance of N200 million dud cheque to Chitex Ventures and Chima Akuzie.
