APC presidential primary: Buhari wins big with 210, 201 votes in Bayelsa

Members of the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Friday voted massively with over 200,000 votes for President Muhammadu Buhari as the candidate of the party in 2019 Presidential elections.
The exercise took place in the 105 wards of the state. It was based on the Option A4 model adopted in the June 12, 1993 Presidential Election. It is a method whereby eligible voters cue behind the contestant of their choice.

In apparent bid to ensure transparency, professionalism and fiscal discipline, Sokoto state governor and 2019 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has vowed to split the  the offices of  the Accountant- General and Attorney- General  of the federation, if elected president. The measure, he added, will also encourage loyalty to the nation in the conduct of government business

Police block entrance of venue for Kano PDP primaries

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries in Kano State was on Monday obstructed as police vehicles were parked at the entrance of the venue.

This prevented delegates from accessing the Marhaba Cinema venue of the primaries.

The police explained to journalists that they were complying with a court injunction.

According to the Police Public Relation Officer in the state, Magaji Majia, the court injunction is to stop any further political move or gathering by the PDP in Kano State, due to intra-party crisis.

Breaking: Buhari summons Tinubu, Ambode

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, and the Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, New Telegraph can report.

The meeting is believed to be about the second term aspiration of Mr Ambode.

Bola Tinubu, a two-term governor of Lagos has thrown his weight behind Mr Ambode’s challenger, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Ambode, at a press conference on Sunday, said Sanwo-Olu is not fit to govern Lagos. He revealed that his challenger was once arrested for fraud in U.S

APC, PDP hold governorship primaries nationwide

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today hold governorship primaries nationwide.

The APC primaries will hold in all states across the country, except Lagos and Imo states.

The national leadership of the APC had earlier announced the postponement of the governorship primaries in Lagos and Imo States from today, Sunday to Monday, October 1.

The national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, said the postponement was due to inadequate logistics.

Hamzat steps down for Jide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos APC gov Primary

Obafemi Hamzat, a Lagos state governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, has stepped down for Jide Sanwoolu.

Jide Sanwo-Olu is believed to be the preferred candidate of former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu.

Mr Sanwo-Olu has the backing of the Mandate group, a group loyal to Bola Tinubu.

The incumbent, Akinwumi Ambode, will face Mr Sanwo-Olu on Sunday at the party’s primary election.

Breaking: 36 Lagos Assembly members endorse Sanwo-olu

Ahead of tomorrow’s governorship election primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, 36 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, including the speaker, Rt.Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, have backed the aspiration of Mr. Jide Sanwo-olu.
