Imo: Araraume picks APGA guber ticket

Senator Ifeanyi Araraume who represented Imo North in the Red Chambers between 1999 and 2007, has been declared winner of the 2018 governorship primary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Araraume who recently dumped the All Progressive Congress (APC) for APGA following the raging controversies that trailed the APC congresses in the state was announced as the APGA governorship candidate for Imo state on Sunday night in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

PDP: Obi congratulates Atiku

The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has described the victory of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku as a consummation of the wishes and desires of most Nigerians, both high and low.
In a message, Obi stated that what the PDP delegates did in Port Harcourt was a mirrow of what Nigerians wanted - free and transparent election.
Obi said that because all the candidates were imminently qualified, with each coming with his support base, that the victory of Atiku showed that he was widely accepted.

Nigeria's Buhari to face political heavyweight in re-election bid

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will run for re-election in February 2019 against former vice president Atiku Abubakar, a Muslim from the country's north who was nominated on Sunday as the main opposition party's poll contender.

Buhari, a 75-year-old former military ruler, was the sole candidate for his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party, so his confirmation by some 7,000 delegates gathered in the capital Abuja was a mere formality on Saturday.

The APC swept to power in 2015 with the first opposition victory at the ballot box in the country's history.

Aisha Buhari faults APC primaries, claims some aspirants got automatic ticket

The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has accused the All Progressives Congress of allowing impunity to take place during its primaries.

According to her, some aspirants were given automatic tickets, denying others who also bought the party’s forms “at exorbitant prices” a fair chance.

She made her position known in a series of tweets on Sunday.

2019: APC affirms Buhari as presidential candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed President Muhammadu Buhari as its candidate for the 2019 presidential election.

About 7,000 delegates affirmed the President as the party’s flagbearer at the APC’s national convention which was held at the Eagles Square in the nation’s capital Abuja on Saturday.

The move comes eight days after the APC held its presidential primary in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Breaking: Atiku emerges PDP presidential candidate

The former Vice President and Presidential Aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged as the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku beat 11 other contestants after polling 1, 532 to emerge as the winner of the primary at the National Convention in Port Harcourt.

Other aspirants include Senate President Bukola Saraki polled 317 votes, immediate past Senate President, Senator David Mark 35 votes, Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo 111 votes,  Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal 693 votes.

APC clears 24 governorship candidates

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has cleared 24 governorship candidates to fly the party’s flag in the 2019 election ignoring credible claims that most of the governorship primaries it conducted were fraught with irregularities and fraud.

Of note were the primaries conducted in Delta, Ogun and Lagos states.

APC spokesman, Yekini Nabena, stated on Friday that the candidates were approved at Thursday’s meeting of the NWC in Abuja.

Imo deputy governor condemns violence in Mbaitoli

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has condemned the violence that occurred in Amaike ward in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state on Monday, October 1, 2018, describing the incident as most unfortunate.
