2019: Buhari, Atiku shop for fresh alliance

Less than three months to the 2019 general elections, the presidential candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party – President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar – are said to be currently in talks with some other political parties with the aim of working out fresh alliances that will see other presidential candidates stepping down for each of them.

Amosun’s candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, dumps APC for APM

A House of Representatives member, Adekunle Akinlade, who is the preferred governorship candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun State, on Thursday formally dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akinlade, who lost the APC gubernatorial ticket to Prince Dapo Abiodun, announced his defection to the Allied People’s Movement (APM) on the floor of the House.

He is billed to contest the 2019 governorship election on the platform of his new party.

Women protest at Akwa Ibom Assembly over leadership crisis

Women in Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday stormed the premises of Akwa Ibom Assembly in protest.

The women were led by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Women Affairs all dressed in black outfits, holding placards with various inscriptions. They expressed disapproval over the recent crisis rocking the Assembly.

They accused the police of complicity and called for the removal of the Commissioner of Police in the state.

Speaker of the Akwa Ibom Assembly, Onofiok Luke, later came out and addressed the women.

2019: Atiku, PDP begin peace shuttle, mend fences with Ekweremadu
