APC tasks security agencies on Plateau killings, offers condolences

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commiserated with the government and people of Plateau State over Saturday’s gruesome killings in Barkin-Ladi and Riyom local government areas of the state.

UPP condemns killings in Plateau

The United Progressive Party (UPP) has condemned the killing of more than 120 people and the destruction of properties worth millions of naira in Plateau State by the Fulani herdsmen at the weekend.

  The Chairman, Chief Chekwas Okorie, stated that the party was saddened beyond description by the massive destruction of lives and property of the people of Plateau State by bands of Fulani insurgents.

Declaring June 12 Democracy Day illegal, but … — Agbakoba

Former President of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, and human rights lawyer, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, yesterday, said declaring June 12 as the new date for the celebration of Democracy Day in Nigeria was illegal, but he would not challenge it because it was a popular declaration.
President Muhammadu Buhari recently declared the new date as against May 29, on which Nigeria had celebrated Democracy Day since 1999.

APC’s Convention Committee to Submit Report Today

As part of the process leading to the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the screening committee headed by Katsina State Governor, Bello Masari, will thursday submit its report to the party leadership.

This is coming as the party has threatened to deal decisively with the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, if he fails to stop his ‘libelous’ attacks on the party leadership.

Okorocha, Ohakim in war of words

OWERRI—IMO State governor, Rochas Okorocha, yesterday described Ikedi Ohakim, a former governor of the state, as the most hated politician in Imo.

Okorocha was reacting through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, to a statement credited to Ohakim, that some of the Okorocha’s projects that collapsed including the children’s bridge were as a result of poor construction.

Court Sacks Kogi East Senator

Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court has ordered the sack of the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Senator Atai Aidoko. The lawmaker is in the Senate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Justice Kolawole, delivering judgment in a preelection suit, also ordered the immediate swearing in of Air Marshall Isaac Alfa (rtd.), of the PDP, by the Clerk of the National Assembly..

APC Threatens Okorocha over Attacks on Its Leadership

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, that it would not tolerate his constant attacks on its leadership.

The party also faulted an advertorial placed by one of the governor’s associates alleging that it was duly served a court injunction to stop the congress in Imo State, describing it as false and misleading.

In a statement issued Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdulahi, APC accused Governor Okorocha of continuously making libelous allegations against the party and its leaders.
