Supreme Court affirms election of Governor Ishaku

The supreme court has affirmed the election of Governor Darius Ishaku as Governor of Tarab state.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Ejembi Ekwo, the court held that the counsel to the APC admitted that the party had no candidate in the election and therefore has no locus standi to contest the election of the governor.

The Judge added that the appellant conceded the fact and went ahead to suggest that the supreme court allow one professor to step into the shoes of the disqualified candidate.

Breaking: Supreme Court upholds election of Governor Ikpeazu

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu dismissing the appeal of Mr Alex Otti challenging the election.

At the onset of proceeding on Wednesday, counsel to Mr. Alex Orti and APGA Mr. Lateef Fagbemi adopted his processes.

According to him, claims by the Appellate Court that the documents tendered at the tribunal were dumped on the court should be set aside.

Ihedioha pledges to uphold independence of judiciary in Imo

The Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, CON, has reassured of the resolve of his administration to uphold the independence of the judiciary and abide by the rule of law –
the twin factors he identified as the only panacea to good governance.

He made the pledge at the swearing in of nine judges, seven for the State High Court, two for the Customary Court of Appeal, held at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Owerri.
He said that the three arms of government must collaborate for good governance to thrive.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Nigerians are already counting down to May 29, 2023, when the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari will end.

Mbaka had rightly predicted the defeat of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to Buhari in 2015 boasting that “no prophesy has ever been declared on this prayer ground without coming to pass.”

Kwara govt demolishes Saraki’s family property in Ilorin

The Kwara State government on Thursday demolished Bukola Saraki’s family property popularly known as Ile Arugbo (old people’s home) in Ilorin, the state capital.

The property was demolished early in the morning after police dispersed protesters, including old women.

Policemen, numbering about 50 were said to have gone to enforce the action at about 3:00 am but were initially resisted by some the old women.

The security agents later returned at 4:00 am when the structure was evetually pulled down.
