Nigeria’s conflict with separatists calling for an independent state, known as Biafra, has escalated in recent months.

Barely one-week after the discovery of 1,100 pump action rifles in Lagos, another cache of arms has been allegedly uncovered by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).

The arms were uncovered on Tuesday in a container suspected to contain about 475 pump-action rifles.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed some of its air assets in support of the military operation in South-East and code-named Operation Python Dance II.

Various air assets including the Alpha Jet aircraft has immediately been deployed by the air force to it’s 115 Special Operations Group in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to support the ongoing Nigerian Army’s Exercise.

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo is presiding over the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will be standing in for the President, Muhammadu Buhari who is presently attending the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York.

The FEC Meeting commenced at exactly 11.05 am on Wednesday morning.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has condemned the military siege to the South East geopolitical zone, noting that dialogue and inclusion were best options in resolving the agitation in the region.

Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has announced the formal disengagement of the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff, as he returns to his private legal practice.
Governor Dickson announced this at the end of the 79th session of the State Executive Council meeting.
