The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has condemned the reported killing of young men and women by security operatives in parts of the South East, all in the name of quelling disturbances.

 

Ebonyi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its youth leader, Mark Onu.

 Onu was alleged to have caused public disorder and attempted to disrupt the 2016 Democracy Day celebration in the state.

The operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command over the weekend arrested 59 suspected social miscreants during a raid on criminal hideouts and black spots in the state.

The raid was part of the routine exercise of the RRS on suspected black spots in the state to check criminal activities as well as restore orderliness in crime and violence-prone areas.

Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, has called for patience and understanding with the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

 He said that Nigeria was under reconstruction.

 Madumere made the appeal during an interaction with the newsmen in his official residence in Owerri Capital City of Imo State.

The former Minister of Information and leader of the Concerned PDP Stakeholders, Prof. Jerry Gana, has explained the reasons behind his perceived opposition to the embattled Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheliff.

 He said that he was only protesting "some fundamental flaws in the party."
