Bauchi Assembly approves N103m loan request by governor

Bauchi House of Assembly has approved the N103 million loan request by Governor Mohammed Abubakar to tackle acute malnutrition and immunisation.
The House approved the loan on Tuesday at plenary after reading a letter written to them by the governor.
In the letter, Governor Abubakar had asked the assembly to approve the loan to be taken from the Keystone Bank for for the payment of counterpart contribution in respect of community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and routine immunisation across the state.
"To enable the state government access the World Bank’s Rural Acces and Agricultural Marketing project."

Moving a motion for the approval, the Chairman, Committee on Health, Alhaji Ibrahim Katagum, stressed that the request was long overdue and due for approval looking at the nature of the state of malnutrition in the communities.
He therefore, urged his colleagues to approve the loan for the sake of the society and curbing the menace of malnutrition.
Katagum, however, appealed to the state government to utilise the money and not misappropriate it.
The member representing Kirfi Constituency, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, seconded the motion, saying that the loan should be approved for the benefit of people and the children who are the future leaders.
"So there was no need delaying the approval," he said.

Ruling, the Speaker, Kawuwa Damina, said that the house approved the loan request to take care of malnutrition and routine immunisation in the state.
