Shun sentiment, Atiku remains the best to save Nigeria, group advises

Nigerians have been enjoined to shun sentiment and support the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as the best to foster genuine development and save the Nation from the prevailing economic hardship.

A pressure group, known as the ‘Seven Wise Men’ gave this advice in Ogun State, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Comrade Kehinde Alaka, while promising to support the Director General of Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, APCO, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, in ensuring that Atiku becomes the next President of the Nation.

The Pressure group said “Nigerians must stop listening to lies and propaganda, but face realities and assess critically, various issues affecting them, in terms of the Nation’s economy, security, power supply, housing, health, education, shelter, infrastructure and food, among others”.

According to the statement, “those campaigning, that three years was not enough to do anything tangible as a Government were only deceiving people, as three years of governance was enough to show direction and give hope to the people, but this has remained elusive due to incompetence and insincerity on the part of a vengeance seeking government”.

The ‘Seven Wise Men’ stated that “the people should be able to judge if the Country has improved from what it was, when fuel was sold for N87 per litre and a bag of rice was N7,000, compare to now that a litre of fuel is N145 and a bag of rice is between N14,000 and N18,000. It is sad, that corruption has increased in all sectors despite the anti-corruption war of this administration which has borrowed more than 11 trillion naira in 3 years, according to the Debt Management Office”.

“A situation where Nigeria has become the poverty capital of the world; where food insecurity has worsened due to conflicts in the country; where insecurity with herdsmen has risen and Boko Haram now kill our soldiers; where 7.9 million Nigerians became unemployed in 21 Months and 4 million Nigerians lost their jobs this year according to the National Bureau of statistics was worrisome and only a competent personality like Atiku Abubakar who has many life success can save the Nation”.

“Atiku Abubakar with his exposure and wealth of experience ,is a detribalised Nigerian needed to unify the Country at this stage of its National life when people are more divided along ethnic lines. In his State Adamawa, Atiku is the largest private employer and he has created over 200,000 jobs directly and indirectly all over the nation”.

The group encouraged, the South Western States to support the ‘Atiku project to get Nigeria working again”, saying the endorsement by Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and other notable Yoruba elders is an assurance that the interests of the SouthWest will be well protected.

“It is our responsibilty to build a virile Nation by supporting our collective interests against those negotiating the Yoruba interests on the alter of personal interest to become the President in 2023” it stated.(NAN)
