AFCON: Super Eagles depart Benin to South Africa

The Super Eagles will depart Nigeria’s shores Thursday evening aboard a chartered flight from the Benin City Airport for Johannesburg where they will tackle Bafana in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Saturday at the FNB Stadium.

Late arrival Samuel Kalu trained with the rest of the squad on Wednesday after he was the only absentee a day before.

Team captain Ahmed Musa will lead the attack in the absence of injured Odion Ighalo. The Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia star led the Eagles frontline in a must-win World Cup group game against Iceland in Russia and delivered two well-taken goals.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa is also set to start against South Africa Saturday. Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze is pushing for his Eagles debut in Johannesburg.

The team had a closed-door training session yesterday in Asaba on Wednesday in a two-a-side game
