The Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has described the death of the former Governor of old Ondo State, Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua, as a loss of a great elder statesman.

In a condolence message, Obi expressed sorrow over the death of the former governor, describing his demise as ‘‘passing unto glory of a fulfilled leader’’.

“Our dear nation has, again, lost another rare gem; a fulfilled leader and elder statesman, whose leadership knowledge and pieces of advice, are much needed by the younger generation.
“We take solace in his great achievements and legacies, which will be remembered by generations to come. His great contributions to our national democracy are equally remarkable”, Obi stated.

Obi however assured the people and government of Ondo State as well as the family and friends of the deceased of his good thoughts and prayers in the challenging moments of their lives, while praying God to grant Olumilua eternal rest in paradise.

The late Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua, elected on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, was the second civilian governor of the old Ondo State from January 1992 to November 1993 during the Nigerian Third Republic.
He died at the early hours of Thursday, June 4, 2020, at the age of 80, in his country home, in Ikere-Ekiti.
