Man, 27, defiles five-year-old girl in Niger

The Police in Niger State have arrested a 27-year-old man, Shamshideen Salihu, for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl (names withheld), at the Federal Low Cost Housing, Maikunkele, Minna in Niger State.
Salihu, it was gathered, had while both parents of the girl were away sneaked into their family house, had carnal knowledge of the girl and thereafter left the vicinity to avoid being linked to the incident.
It was however gathered that when the girl’s mother returned she noticed clots of blood and stains on her baby’s thighs, she
raised alarm which attracted neighbours to her house.
They later rushed the girl to a nearby private clinic where ‘several stitches’ were done on her private parts and drugs administered on the little girl before she was discharged.
The family also reported the case to the Maikunkele Divisional Police.

The suspect, Shamshideen Salihu, was subsequently arrested and detained but later moved to the State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further interrogation.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger State Command, DSP Muhammad Abubakar Dan-Inna, confirmed the defilement of the minor by Shamshideen Salihu and that the case was with the CID for investigation.
The suspect, according to the PPRO, will be charged to Court as soon as investigations are completed.
