Adeleke's victory: Obi thumbs up the judiciary

By Valentine Amanze

The Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23, 2019 election, Mr Peter Obi, has commended the Nigerian Judiciary on the victory of Sen. Ademola Adeleke and the PDP st the tribunal.
Obi made the commendation through his Media Adviser, Mr. Valentine Obienyem.

Obi, who described the judgement as the triumph of justice over the dictatorship of injustice aided by forces that do not mean well for the country, advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to appeal the judgement.
Obi pointed out that if the APC appealed, it would be a clear attack of a judgement that was both straightforward and redeeming.

The Anambra State former governor also advised the judiciary to continue to be steadfast in the dispensation of justice especially now, according to him, “other arms of government are bent on fostering dictatorship on the country. "
His words: “As the bulwark of freedom and justice, once the judiciary capitulates, the country is as good as gone."

Analyzing the effect of the judgment to nation-building, Obi said that it renewed the faith of Nigerians in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
Besides, Obi appealed to Nigerians to remain united in the fight against rigging, especially during the forthcoming supplementary elections. Describing rigging as the worst form of corruption, Obi said that any nation that encouraged or condoned it was sick unto death and must at least allow the judiciary to restore her through painful surgery.
