Cult-related killings: Obaseki condemns trend, charges Police boss to fish out culprits

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has condemned the recent cult-related killings in Benin City and charged the State Police Command to arrest the trend and bring the culprits to book.

The governor said this in response to the reported killing of yet to be confirmed number of persons in parts of Benin metropolis, calling on the people to remain calm as relevant security agencies are working round the clock to fish out the culprits.

According to the governor, "The revamped security architecture in the state is working round the clock to ensure that those responsible for the killings are brought to book. We are constantly engaging with the top brass of security agencies in the state and they have assured of their commitment to fish out the culprits."

He charged the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosun and other relevant security agencies to leave no stone unturned in fishing out those responsible for the clashes and resultant deaths.

He added that operatives of the 'Operation Wabaizighan,' a security architecture set up to fight violent crimes, have been dispatched and they are in pursuit of the criminal elements fomenting trouble.

Noting that the state government will never tolerate any action that undermines law and order, the governor said, "We are a state that upholds law and order. I dare reiterate that no one is above the law in this state. This is why the Police have gone after the hoodlums and will ensure that they are brought to book
