Ex-governors can't affect PDP’s chances in Bauchi - Guber Spokesman

By Ahmed Ahmed

The defection of the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Part (PDP), Ahmadu Muazu; Bauchi State former Governor Isa Yuguda, and others to the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not affect the fortune of the party in the next general election.
The Director of Administration of the Campaign Council and Spokesman of the Bauchi State PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Alhaji Maigari Mohammed, stated this in Bauchi on Thursday.
He explained that the former governor and other defectors did not jump from PDP to APC; rather from the other political parties not PDP.
Maigari was reacting to the recent defection of Muazu, Yuguda, former Sectretary to the Federal Government, Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, and 13 others during the flagg-off of APC campaign in Bauchi by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said that Mu’azu who was a former governor, and PDP national chairman left the party after the 2015 general election which PDP lost.
He said that he still doubted the defection of Muazu since he did not attend the APC rally in Bauchi and has not spoken over the issue.
"Yuguda left PDP since after the last general election. He announced that he dumped PDP later; and he contested the recent Bauchi bye-election on Senate seat on the platform of the political party he belonged not PDP since. He left PDP and he didn’t return. Former Secretary to the Federal Government Mahmud Yayale Ahmed was not a PDP member. The last time he was in touch with PDP was in 2015 when he contested Primary election. since then we have not seen him in any PDP activities or functions. He was absent when they mentioned his name," he said.
Maigari said that the only two people that may have likely come close to the PDP among the 18 defectors are two former deputy governors of Bauchi State, Abdulmalik Mahmud, and Deputy PDP National Chairman, Babayo Garba Gamawa.
"But you would remember that PDP national headquarters has suspended Gamawa from the party for allegedly anti-party and for not participating in PDP activities for the last six months even if they call him. For the last six months he is not in PDP. But for Abdulmalik, he was a member since he didn’t have any office; may be we can say he is the only one that left PDP but the remaining ceased to be PDP members long ago”, Khanna said.
