NSCDC arrests man for raping three-month-old baby in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday June 23, 2020 arrested a man accused of raping a three-month-old baby in Adogi village of Nasarawa State.

The Assistant to the Commandant General, NSCDC, Ekunola Gbenga, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Ahmadu Yaro, 27.
He said that the suspect was arrested Tuesday for sexually assaulting and brutally injuring a three-month-old baby (names withheld) after a thorough intelligence gathering and investigation.

Three persons rescued, one missing in Lekki boat mishap

Three persons were yesterday rescued alive when the boat they were travelling in capsized at Lekki shoreline, Ladipo Latinwo Close, Lekki Phase 2 as a result of water turbulence.

A statement on Tuesday by the General Manager, Lagos State Waterways Authority, Mr. Damilola Emmanuel, disclosed that “at about 4.30pm on the 23rd of June, 2020, a local boat with four (4) adult males on a boating expedition capsized due to water turbulence.

Ghana president calls Buhari, apologises over demolition of Nigerian mission

President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has called President Muhammadu Buhari to apologise for the demolition of the Nigerian High Commission in Accra.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Akufo-Addo expressed his sincere apology over the unfortunate incident that has sparked reactions from the Nigerian government.

This was confirmed in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu.

Wike pulls out of Edo PDP reconciliation efforts

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has pulled out of the reconciliation efforts of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State.

He disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

According to Wike, some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP were sycophants and tax collectors who would never tell the truth.

The governor alleged that instead of the NWC to carry everybody along in Edo, they resorted to using the media to blackmail him.

Edo: Court stands down PDP primary suit

It appears the coast may soon be clear for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s participation in tomorrow’s governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State.

This comes after the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt granted the request by one of the governorship aspirants, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, to have the matter stood down to enable an out of court settlement.

Mr. Ogbeide-ihama had filed a suit in the court asking it to prevent any member of the party that has purchased forms but not screened within the time stipulated to contest the PDP primary.

APC crisis: Eta alleges threat to life

The leadership crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) took a more dangerous turn on Wednesday with the National Vice Chairman, South South, Hon. Hillard Eta, alleging threat to his life.
Eta, who is standing for acting national chairman, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, in Abuja, said that some people were after his life.
His disstress call came barely less than 24 hours when a detachment of policemen took over the party headquarters.
