Buhari Arrives Eagles Square For Democracy Day Celebration

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the Eagles Square in Abuja where the June 12 Democracy Day celebrations are holding for the first time.

The President arrived at some minutes past 10am, he received the state salute and joined in the general rendition of the National anthem.He also rode in a special inspection vehicle to inspect guards on parade and acknowledged cheers from guests present.

Prior to Buhari’s arrival, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had arrived at the venue, he (Osinbajo) welcomes some of the invited guests on behalf of the President.

Govt, burrow pit operators to meet over security

Following concerns over security threats on the lives of burrow pit operators in Edo South Senatorial District, the Edo State Government has scheduled a meeting to address pressing issues among the operators to ensure a secure environment for their business.
In a statement, Commissioner for Minerals, Oil and Gas, Hon. Joseph Ugheoke, said "Following series of reports on security challenges across the burrow pits in Edo State, all burrow bit operators in Edo South Senatorial District are invited to a meeting convened by my office."

Tribunal dismisses Coalition for Change Petition against Buhari

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Monday dismissed the petition of the Coalition for Change (C4C) against the election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23 election.
The dismissal was sequel to an application by C4C for withdrawal of the petition filed on June 10, 2019.
When the matter was called on Monday, lawyers to Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wole Olanipekun SAN and Lateef Fagbemi SAN, informed the court that their clients were yet to be served with a copy of the petition.

Wike appoints Danagogo as SSG

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has approved the appointment of Tammy Danagogo as the new Secretary to the State Government.
Wike also approved the appointment of Mr. Chukwuemeka Woke as the Chief of Staff, Government House Port Harcourt.
The Special Assistant to the governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, stated that the two officials would be sworn in by the Rivers State governor at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House Port Harcourt by 2 pm.

Breaking: APC National Working Committee adopts Omo-Agege for Deputy Senate President

The National Working Committee (NWC) of All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally adopted Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for the position of Deputy Senate President; and Hon. Muhammed Idris Wase as Deputy Speaker.
This resolve was reached after emergency meetings which held on Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th of June 2019.
According to a statement by Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the party’s national publicity secretary, the committee arrived at their decision after wide consultations with President Muhammadu Buhari and party stakeholders, including APC governors.

Breaking: Garba replaces Bulkachuwa, heads presidential election petition tribunal

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal is now headed by Justice M. L Garba, who is the Presiding Justice of the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.
Garba, who appeared on the five-man panel for the first time on Monday, replaces the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.
Bulkachuwa had withdrawn from the panel on May 22 following allegation of likelihood of bias levelled against her by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in the February 23 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

10 containers disappear under Customs watch

Ten confiscated 20-footer containers said to have been escorted by the national security from one terminal to another within the Tema port enclave have been declared missing in Ghana.
The 20- footer containers which were said to be full of canned tomatoes were sailed from the Tema Container Terminal (TCT) to the Atlas in a distance of about 9.9 kilometers.
The containers, according to information, were classified as overstayed cargos and were being transferred to Atlas for further examination and necessary action.
