Obaseki, IITA mull partnership on 50,000 ha Cassava zone in Edo

The Edo State Government and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) have agreed to join forces to bring about transformational change in cassava production, with a proposal for development of a 50,000 hectare farm project in the state.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki revealed his administration’s plan to work with IITA after he gave a speech at the International Conference on Water-Energy-Food Systems (WEFS) in Sub-Saharan Africa, organised by the Pennsylvania State University in collaboration with IITA and the University of Ibadan, in IITA-Ibadan campus.

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, will   Tuesday lead a Senate delegation on a three-day parliamentary visit to Russia, which is aimed at deepening legislative best practices and further strengthening the relationship between both countries.

Nigeria, Morocco agree on next steps for offshore/onshore gas pipeline

Morocco and Nigeria on Sunday signed a joint declaration in Rabat laying out the next steps for the completion of a gas pipeline deal that will be built onshore and offshore, Moroccan state news agency MAP said.

The two countries agreed to the pipeline in December 2016 and launched feasibility studies ending with a plan to build the pipeline onshore and offshore, it said.  

SON harps on IMS Certification for Oil & Gas industry

The need for players in the downstream oil and gas sectors to subscribe to the ISO integrated management system (IMS) certification has been reiterated by the Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Aboloma. This he said was in view of the intricacies associated with the sector and the environmental and safety challenges confronting it.

He stated this at the presentation of integrated management systems certificate to OVH Energy Marketing Limited in Lagos through Mrs. Elsie Ofili, SON Deputy Director, Management Systems Certification.
