Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Theophelus Y. Danjuma, has held secret meeting with the former Military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) in Minna, Niger State.

The meeting with  Danjuma, who is the chairman of the Presidential Committee on North East Initiatives (PCNI), is one of the series of meetings the former military president is having with some notable Nigerians on the state-of-the-nation.

Though details of the three-hour meeting which held at IBBs’ hilltop residence were not disclosed, it was gathered that it may not be unconnected with the worsening security situation in Nigeria.

Danjuma who is said to have sneaked into Minna late Thursday afternoon headed straight to the Babangida’s residence.

A source close to the former leader hinted that Danjuma and his host discussed the worsening insecurity in Nigeria including

recent high profile kidnappings, and the abduction of the Dapchi schoolgirls in Yobe State, the Boko-Haram resurgence and as well, the series of attacks on farming communities by Fulani herdsmen.

Though the federal government seems to be looking for a way out of the thorny situations bedeviling the most populous black nation in the world, the secret meeting will not be out of place in assisting the President Muhammadu Buhari led government in proffering lasting solution to Nigeria’s precarous political situation.
