We are not shaken by Buhari's 2019 ambition - SDP

The Interim National Secretary Of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Musa Gabam, has declared that the party was not shaken by the recent declaration of intention to re-contest the presidency come 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said that the party would soon become the rallying point for Nigerian politicians thereby emerging as the party to beat in 2019 general elections.
Gabam spoke in Bauchi Monday.
He said that Nigerians have come to realize that both the PDP and the ruling APC have failed and therefore need a different platform to repair the country.
According to him, the SDP is not bothered about the ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari to recontest in 2019 but is worried that the APC has failed Nigerians woefully as not a single of its campaign promises has been fulfilled in the last three years.
While lamenting the present insecurity in the country, Gabam said that the economic situation in the country was not giving Nigerians any hope of survival but assured that the SDP would address all the issues when it finally takes over power from the APC in 2019.
He added that with the irredeemable posture of the PDP coupled with the failure of the ruling APC, the SDP has a better chance to put things right come 2019, while calling on Nigerians to rally round the party.
He stated: "The SDP is an old wine that is coming back in a new bottle to attract attention of the people. You know that the old wine is better than the new one but it just needed to be repackaged to make it more attractive to the people".
Gabam assured that very soon the SDP structure at all levels would emerge so that it would be able to start political activities in full swing, pointing out that the party will not impose leadership on the people.
