.DSS insists he’sunfit
The Senate on Wednesday refused to confirm Ibrahim Magu as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).
The decision was taken after Magu was screened by the Senate.
The Senate made the decision following a letter by the Department of State Security (DSS) which upheld an earlier letter that Magu failed the integrity test and was unfit for the office.
The report, said to have been received by the Senate at 5:02p.m. on Tuesday, stated that “Magu has failed the integrity test” and that he would be a liability to the administration’s anti -corruption crusade.”
It would be recalled that the Senate at the first screening of Magu rejected him based on security reports from the DSS which accused Magu of being a hypocrite.
Meanwhile, Magu has insisted that the DSS lacks integrity.
“What does it say of an agency that submitted two varying reports on the same person, the same day,” he said.
“Up till now the DSS has not given me a chance to hear from me. I have not been given fair hearing by the DSS.”
