Police Counsel Yobe Residents On Security

Nigeria Police, Yobe Command has cautioned residents in the state to remain vigilant, alert and give timely information to the Police about suspicious movements of people, vehicles and strange objects.

Commissioner of Police, Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim, made the plea while addressing newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Damaturu on the review of the activities of the Command in 2015.

According to him, end of the year is always characterized with increased human and commercial activities; intercity and intra-city and inter-state movements of people and commodities and large gathering of people for the celebration of different kinds is also expected to increase.

The CP said, “As the Armed Forces are carrying out their onslaught on the camps of insurgents, infiltration of the towns, villages and suburbs is anticipated, therefore, the Police Command is enjoining Village Heads, District Heads as well as Ward Heads to watch out for new settlers who might constitute danger to our hard-earned peace.

The Police commissioner further expressed the Police readiness to ensure a peaceful yuletide; “however, the cooperation of all and sundry is required to secure our communities”.

He used the forum to warn the general public to be weary of the way and manner in the way they handle fire “as we are in the dry season, people should avoid handling open fire with negligence as any unquenched glowing splint could result in fire outbreak thereby causing lost of lives and properties.”

Ibrahim also revealed that Yobe Police Command has been relatively peaceful of recent. According to him, the improvement is greatly connected with improved synergy with other security agencies as well as robust involvement of the people policing.
