The Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello, has commiserated with the government and people of Anambra State and Nigerians over the demise of the former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme. Governor Bello described the death of the former vice president in a London hospital as ‘the loss of a great leader’.
The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, said the late Ekwueme was an exceptional leader who exhibited rare political traits among his peers.
Bello said that he received the news of Ekwueme’s death with a deep sense of loss, adding, “Dr. Ekwueme throughout his political life never exhibited politics with bitterness but remained focused in promoting politics of national unity”.
Ekwueme, the governor recalled, was until his death one of the pillars of Nigerian modern democracy as he contributed significantly to national development, stressing that history would always remember him for such traits.
