Bauchi govt prioritises agric in budget

The Bauchi State 2017 Appropriation Bill has been  increased from initial N145,447,253,58 to N2, 517,451,38.

 At the Bauchi State Government House, after the signing of the Appropriation Bill into law by the Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Alhaji Idris Abdullahi, stated that the budget statues was now “147”. He said that the increase was the effort rendered by the members of state House of Assembly.

The commisioner said that the Ministry of Agriculture was among those that got the lion share of the budget.

"So, as a result of that the governor gave fertilizer to the farmers last farming season and that is why agriculture has the increase of over N2 billion in this year budget."

Giving the breakdown of the budget, Abdullahi, who is overseeing the Ministry of Budget and Planning, stated that the state government wanted to also give priority attention to both education and health in the 2017 fiscal year.

He said that  Governor Abubakar administration wants to also change the level of education in the state with a view to taking it to the higher heights.

According to Abdullahi, government has embarked on the reconstruction of many schools across the state and new buildings of some schools, declaring that education is the backbone of life without which the whole world is empty.
